White-winged Dove in NSLH

The NSLH region had a White-winged Dove added to their Checklist on July 22, 2017. This marks the 69th bird on their official Checklist, always a great addition.  This dove was sighted in the early morning on a power line on Kirby Smith Rd.

The White-winged Dove is a large dove, a little larger than Mourning Dove. It’s native range is the southwestern United States, but this dove is expanding it’s range and has been introduced to Florida. The White-winged Dove likes hanging out on power lines in the early morning, so this is where you are most likely to find one.
